Motorcycle Oil Additive Technology

Infineum S1875 and S1876 are the latest additions to our motorcycle portfolio. These mainline products are designed to meet the needs of high growth markets, especially Asia Pacific and Latin America, where smaller cc two wheelers dominate market share. Using proprietary components and a skillfully balanced formulation approach, Infineum S1875 and S1876 provide performance at optimised treat rates, as demonstrated by extensive field testing.

A recent field trial was conducted in Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam. Brand new 125cc manual air-cooled motorcycles were used in the trial. The test oils were a SAE Grade 20W-50 for Infineum S1875, a SAE Grade 10W-30 for Infineum S1876 and these two Infineum oils were benchmarked against the most popularly purchased Motorcycle oils; a 20W-50 in Quality SG.

Each oil was run on three bikes, to ensure a fair comparison. The oil drain interval was set at 10,000km, a distance extended beyond the normal oil drain interval, specifically designed to push the oils to their limits. The motorcycle riders visited the workshop every 2500km for used oil collection and analysis.  After each riding journey, the rider filled in a survey to rate driving experience and report any issues.

All test bikes completed the 10,000 km with no harms. Engines were rated and those of Infineum S1875 and S1876 showed good piston cleanliness, low piston varnish and carbon; and overall good cleanliness conditions in the piston groove, with low wear observed in the other engine parts for example, transmission gears, clutch, camshaft.
